The Wounded Standard-Bearer

Description

Hippolyte Bellangé was an artist who fed directly into the patriotic and military spirit of the early 19th century with his publication of several albums of prints depicting recent French campaigns. The Théodore Gericault lithograph and Bellangé painting alongside this print depict scenes from the Napoleonic Wars, which culminated in the defeat of Napoleon and the establishment of a new European order under Great Britain.
